Manchester Life Coaches Teaches You To Control Your Negative Self Talk

 

Negative self talk, that nagging voice in your head can stop you being successful. That devil whispering in your ear can limit your life. Imagine, being on a night out. In the bar, you spot someone who you really fancy, you know deep down that this is destiny, this is the person you should spend the rest of your life with.

You stand up planning to ask this person out on your first date, before taking the first step you hear your inner demon whispering “she wont like YOU!…” You stop in your tracks. “you will just embarrass yourself, don’t bother, you’re better off without her, anyway how would you feel if she said NO..?” 

Negative self talk is powerful. That little voice in your head can create procrastination, can limit your life and can stop you achieving your goals.

This simple technique will empower you to delete the negative self talk, giving you the control back.  To help with have videoed the technique and recorded the step by step instructions below.

Deleting Negative Self Talk

Below is a breakdown of the technique you have just viewed on the video.

  1. Step One – locate the voice. Where is the negative voice? On your left or right hand side? At the front or back of your head?
  2. Step Two – Shape Shift. Turn this voice into a shape. What shape is your negative self talk? A square, Triangle, Circle or any other shape? Give the shape a colour – what colour is your shape?
  3. Step Three – Motion• Start to move the shape downwards. Slowly, at first. From your head, down towards your shoulder. Move the shape from your shoulder down your arm towards your elbow. From your elbow to your hand, from your hand to your leg, leg to your knee. From your knee to your foot.
  4. Step Four – Give It The Boot. Allow the shape to fall from your foot to the floor – at this stage you will get an urge do get rid of this shape. What do you want to do to the shape? Kick it away? Stamp on it? Put it under your chair? Vanish it into space?
  5. Step Five – Follow The Urge. Complete your urge; crush it, kick, stamp on it – what ever you feel compelled to do. Have all the negative emotions vanished? Most said they vanished a long time ago.

Try this exercise several times and notice how it gets easier and quicker it is to remove the power of the negative self talk.
