Pay Per Click Vs SEO

If you have a well set up niche coaching website that converts well, then pay per click will pay off for you. Every time a potential client clicks your PPC ad you are charged by Google, often this charge per coaching keyword is around £2-£3. This may sound a lot of money to spend per person visiting your website, but if you follow to process from the “coaching business in a box” this money will be well invested.

A good conversion rate is 1/10. This means that for every £30 spent you will get a conversion, or even if you only convert 1/20 you spend around £60 for every paying client.

Rates for coaches vary with £80 being a common cost per hourly service and most clients book 5 sessions. 5 x £80 = £400. – £60 marketing cost = £340 profit, not a bad return on your investment.

Many new coaches are scared to invest money in to PPC advertisements which is understandable. If you don’t want to invest money into your coaching business you need to invest time. SEO is about ranking high on Google for free. To rank high on Google search pages you need to niche your website in to a particular coaching niche. Rather then “coach” you need an expertise “confidence coach” plus you need to niche via location even for telephone and Skype coaches “Confidence Coach in Manchester.” you can go one step further and niche your niche “Public Speaking confidence Coach in Manchester”

Rule 1 – the more you niche the higher you will rank on Google search pages for your niche search term.

Finding the Number One Spot

The organic websites that appear on Google (the ad’s that are not PPC) only appear there because Google have a formula that tells them that these websites are the most relevant to the searchers criteria (search query) Several key elements will help Google decide if your coaching website will rank high on the keyword “life coach in Manchester” as an example. These elements include the age of the website (which is why the experienced coache will often purchase a more expensive but aged website), the number of relevant backlinks attached to the website, the brand/niche of the website, attachment to Google maps and relevant and regular niche blog post (as these are monitored on duration reader spends on site, length, uniqueness, reshares, comments and links)

To increase backlinks to your site you need to approach and write for other coaching websites. Remember though coaches can be picky which means you need to write around a 300 word quality post – this cannot be a sales page!!! Write about your expertise, your niche and your knowledge. If the article is really good, the coach will often share the article on their social media pages will increase the amount of views the page receives. At some point you will be asked by other coaches to write for their blog…which will increase your links.

Rule 2 – Write interesting blog post for other coaches websites (and add a bio and link at the article end)

Repetition

Everyone uses their phone to read articles and to watch videos while they have a spare 5 minutes. This is why most articles should be a round 300 words and your YouTube videos should last around 2-3 minutes; just long enough to grab attention and not too long that the reader/viewers becomes bored.

You should write for you own blog(s) daily and write guest post at least once a month. Also get into the habit of promoting other people’s blog post and let them know, this way they are more likely to promote your articles without you having to ask. The idea is to grow your authority by writing lots of relevant to your coaching niche. Potential customers will first search the web for articles and information on their “issue” (your niche” through their search your name/business name will appear again and again increasing your authority. As customers decide to book a coach they will already be seeded to purchase your coaching services.

Rule 3 – the more you write the better your authority grows.
