5 Quick Ways To Create The Motivation To Achieve Your Goals

5 Quick Ways To Create The Motivation To Achieve Your Goals

There are 2 key reasons why people don’t have the motivation to achieve their goals. 1. People procrastinate 2. People live in their comfort zone.

Procrastination happens when people associate to much pain to the task required to achieve their goals. The thought of “hard” task makes people undertake easier task, often task that aren’t related to their goal.

The comfort zone comes into play when an individual wants an easy life. This is fine, but often the comfort zone can limit your life and stops you from pushing yourself to achieve new goals.

Get Motivated with Manageable Pieces

Goals are often big and the thought of this big change can kill your motivation. To get motivated break this big goal down into small manageable pieces.

By having several small milestones instead of one huge goal seems easier to achieve. Each milestone can also have 3 steps, making achieving a big goal, simply a number of small steps.

As you achieve each step/milestone tick this off, allowing your motivation to increase as you see yourself nearing your goal

Get Motivated by Getting Started

You may have a goal and a detailed action plan with several milestones, but still, you do not take action. Procrastination can be killed by setting started, straight away.

You need to believe that you can achieve this goal. To boost your motivation you need to start at least one of your task as soon as you write the action plan.

By getting started you will feel more determined and committed to follow through on all your milestones and your goal.

Get Motivated with a Reframe

Often people record negative goals – example “to lose weight” “I never want to be poor again” or “stop being single”

We visualize our goals and these goal images have associated emotions. It goes without saying that a negative goal has associated negative emotions.

Re-frame your negative goal to a positive goal – example;

  • “To lose weight” change to “I will be thin and healthy”
  • “I never want to be poor again” change to “by 2016 I will be a millionaire”
  • “Stop being single” change to “I will find myself a suitable partner”

Get Motivated with Images

Once you have re-framed your goals into positive outcomes you can increase your motivation through positive visualizations.

Your mind doesn’t know the difference between real life and thoughts – both have associated emotional attachments.

Create a positive image of you working towards your goals, achieving your goals and the outcome from this goal.  As you imagine achieving goals you will feel all the positive emotions you will feel once you achieve your goal for real.

This positive feelings will encourage you to start and achieve your goal.

Get Motivated with a Coach

A coach, mentor or someone to soundboard off is highly motivational. Having someone to  discuss your goal, milestone and progress will give you extra resources to help you achieve your goal.

You will naturally reflect on your goal, progress and actions helping you to make better informed choices. When feeling demotivated a coach can help to re-boost your motivation and knowing that a coach will be asking you about your progress and agreed actions, you are more likely to be more committed to your goal and milestones
