3 Beliefs That Stop You From Being Successful
Your beliefs motivate you to action or your limiting beliefs will create personal procrastination
Limiting beliefs are beliefs that limit your actions, your aspirations and your potential successes.
Below are 3 common limiting beliefs shared by many people who want to achieve a goal. But rather then enjoying success, these limiting beliefs create personal blockage, in some cases stopping you working towards any goal, any ambition, even stopping you taking any action or steps forward.
Limiting Belief 1 I Will Never Make It
Successful people believe that they will make it, or they at least will give it a good go.
When you believe you will never make it, you will follow this 5 step process to failure
- Create a Goal
- Believe you will never achieve this goal
- Think about the required actions/steps needed to achieve this goal
- Over think the possible negative outcomes, the hard steps you have to take, your weaknesses and any potential potholes
- Never take action
Goal achievers and successful people use a different 3 step strategy. Following this strategy will help you become more successful
- Create a Goal
- Think about the required actions and possible potholes
- Take immediate action
Goals left are over-thinked. When you over-think each step, your focus moves from the positive outcome to potential barriers, creating procrastination
Limiting Belief 2 Time is Running Out
I will do it tomorrow! How many times have you said these 4 words to yourself and then never taken action.
We all have 24 hours in a day, but time is irrelevant. If you are motivated to achieve your goal you take action and make time in your life for this new passion.
Busy people can increase the free time they have by automating systems, delegating task and stopping task that are no longer need completing.
If you believe their isn’t enough time you will de-motivate yourself. Instead create a new belief – I can make time for my goal, with this new belief delegate and make time.
- Wake up earlier
- Shave time off daily task
- Use those 5 free minutes between task to complete or start a task
- Reduce the time you spend watching TV or other task that take up too much time
- Plan you day to be more efficient
Limiting Belief 3 I’m Getting To Old
As a career coach I work with both unemployed teenagers and unemployed older adults. Both believe that they cant get a job because they are either to young/to old.
Age is just a number. What really is important is your experience, your skills, your qualities, your health, your ability to plan goals, to set actions and to be motivated towards achieving your goals.
The truth is, people often guess peoples age incorrectly, which means it doesn’t really matter how old you, what is important is the actions you take, the confidence you show and your personality.
There are many, many examples of older people running marathons, older people staring up new successful businesses and older people gaining new qualifications. This is your life, why stop doing the things you want to do because of your age?
Don’t think about age, think about what you need to do right now to achieve your goals
