3 Things You Can Do To Feel Better About Yourself
As a coach and therapist I know the value of paying for a professional life coach to help increase your self worth, to boost your motivation and to help you, well, feel good about yourself.
Wait!! Before you pick up the phone, there are little things that you can do yourself that can have a massive impact on your personal happiness, and they don’t cost you a penny
Also, these 3 little things you can do yourself to help you feel better about yourself are often the same things your life coach will ask you to do.
There are 3 steps we all need to take when we want to create personal motivation, once followed you will find you will achieve your goals quickly
Step 1 Choose How Your Phrase Self Talk
We are our own worst enemy
No-one is more hard on ourselves then we are. Humans find it easy to self criticise, to find personal weaknesses and to kick yourself when your down.
Instead, control your inner dialog. Rather then state how fat, unfit, horrid you are, instead create outcome audio. State what you want to achieve; I will be fit, healthier and attractive.
Don’t quote weaknesses instead say positive affirmations. Rather then using a weak voice to state your goal, choose a bog powerful voice “I WILL BE MORE CONFIDENT”
Step 2 Take Action
When you take action you increase your levels of happiness because you can see that you are moving forward – this is highly motivational
No matter what your task or goal is, split this down into easy chucnks and milestones. Pick one action and do it right now.
Ideally pick some easy task(s) and as you quickly achieve them your motivation will double. Momentum creates motivation.
Step 3 Rewards
Reward Yourself.
If you are procrastinating about a task, you are most likely trying something new or completing a hard challenge.
Once complete (or when you achieve a milestone) you need to reward yourself. This creates double pleasure – the pleasure from completing the task and the pleasure from your reward which creates more motivation
Goals aren’t all about hard work, some will take hard work, but the reward, the achievement, the learning journey should all be fun.
