The Rules of Life That Should Be Given Out on the Day of Your Birth

The Rules of Life That Should Be Given Out on the Day of Your Birth

Being human is complicated. When we are born we are given no blueprint, no guide no rules. We learn from observing others (who have also learnt from observational learning) which means we take on their beliefs and values, which can either be positive or negative

Here are 5 rules that everyone should be given on the day of their birth

1. You will always think about the future, but you should live in the here and now

Often we have a focus on the future, what could happen, what might be.

This future focus is good to an extent as it allows us to predict the outcome to our actions. But a totally future focus, always thinking about tomorrow, has a massive negative side effect. Time goes to quickly.

You will wake one day, when you are much older thinking what happen to my life? By living in the present you enjoy the now, you focus more on what you can achieve today. A now focus creates action – you don’t put things off until tomorrow

2. You will make mistakes, which means you should embrace getting things wrong

There are no mistake only lesson.

Whenever you try to learn a new skill, from a baby learning to walk to an entertainer learning to juggle, you will get wrong, mess up and make a lot of mistakes

We learn, often through observational learning, not to tell people about our failures. We get so caught up in our identity, we want to be seen as successful, that we prefer to give up rather then give it a go.

Imagine that you didn’t care about making mistakes, that you weren’t fussed about others knowing about your failures. What would you have done different? What chances and opportunities would you have took? What goal would you have achieved.

3. If you do selfless acts for others you will feel better about yourself

You must be successful

From an early age our peers and parents want us to be successful. You are encouraged to have an pass exams, to have academic career and  to be rich. This focus can create selfishness as the focus is on you internally.

For some success is money, career status or having a large house and several expensive cars. But joy, happiness and fulfillment comes from other things. There is no better feeling then doing a selfless act, helping someone in need or being there for a friend.

The more you help your fellowman the more happier you will feel

4. You will learn to make logical choices but you should always trust your gut

The mind has evolved into an analytical masterpiece

This logical part of our mind is what sets us apart from the animal world. The skill of being able to analyse, to be logical to breakdown the detail, has a negative side effect – it can over think

Overthinking leads to procrastination, indecision and a feeling of helplessness. In this state undertake an activity to relax, as this closes down the analytical brain and allow your  emotional brain to make the best choice for you

Your subconscious remembers billions of pieces of information (to much information for the analytical brain)  and will create the gut feeling, the light bulb moment. When in doubt go with your feelings

5. People will only love you if you love yourself

We all desire friendship, passion and love.

Humans are naturally drawn to people who are like them. If you want to draw someone who is loving to you, you need to first love yourself. People with high self esteem, the type of people who live in the here and now, people who listen to there gut, people embrace learning from mistakes and people who love to help others want to meet people with this same attitude.

We don’t consciously look for these traits, we know instinctively that someone has them. If you want a caring person in your life, be a caring person, if you want to be surrounded by happy people became joyful yourself, if you desire love, give love
