10 Quick Ways to Develop and Grow in a Week

10 Quick Ways to Develop and Grow in a Week

If you could grow and develop each week by just 5% this growth over the course of a month, a year will continue to compound.

Here are 10 quick ways to develop yourself over a period of just 7 days

1. Read a New Book Each Week

Books are great ways to develop yourself. Often the author has spent thousands of hours researching their topic, allowing you to reap the rewards from their expertise, by reading and digesting their knowledge

2. Reflect on Last Weeks Growth

Self esteem comes from understanding your skills and qualities. As you grow each week you will gain new skills. By reflecting on your progress, becoming aware of your own grwoth you will increase yourself worth

3. Surround Yourself With More Skilled People

Whatever skill you want to learn their will be others that can do this skill better then you. By surrounding yourself with better skilled people you will learn from them. Never under estimate the power of observational learning

4. Meditate Daily

The relaxed state of meditation is key to self development. It is this relax state that allows the mind to sort all of the days data, it is this relaxed state that will give you the light bulb moment. Often 15 minutes of meditation can be the equivalent of hours of learning

5. Exercise the Body, Exercise the Mind

Developing isn’t just in the mind.

The mind and body are connected. By being healthy to your body; exercising, eating well and staying hydrated, you will create a healthier mind for learning

6. Create Positive Routines

A routine becomes a habit, habits are completed without conscious thought.

By having routines, your conscious mind, not having to think about this habitual task is free to focus on new stimulus’s such as the book you are listening, the audio you have playing.

7. Use Time Savers

We all have 24hrs in a day

Even though 24hrs is enough to learn and develop you want to use time savers. A time saver is one way to complete two task at the same time. An  example of this would be listening to a motivational podcast while driving to work or using a blog post you wrote as the basis of an upcoming speech at work.

The  more time you save the more time you have

8. Make Learning Fun

To learn, to develop you have to make learning fun

Use games, riddles and activities to make learning and growing fun and interesting. Encourage others to join with the new skill you want to learn, find new ways of digesting information and be innovative in your approach to daily task

9. Repeat, Repeat

Repetition is the key to learning. The more you practice the more you learn

Don’t be afraid to re-read books, to replay the same podcast. As you take in so much information your conscious mind will only remember a percentage of this. By using repetition in the short term you will have long term benefits.

If you move on from one learning to the next you will find that long term nothing has stuck

10. Find Learning Connections

By learning and growing each week, you find that your knowledge increases.

Often when submerged in  learning, you have a focus on one particular area; sports, literature, arts, self development, entertainment, history, mathematics. When you learn new theories, new knowledge you can look (often naturally find) commonalities and similarities, this link will help compound your learning
