3 Ways the Army Create Daily Motivation in their Troops

The army motivate.

It takes motivation to encourage troops to stay motivated while on active duty. But also the lifestyle of a solider creates daily motivation.

These motivational tactics can be used in your life to create your own motivation in everything that you do

Run to You Fall

The army are known for forced marches, grueling exercises and competitive extreme sports.

Soldiers are pushed, encourage, to fight past their comfort zone, to achieve the impossible, to run to you fall and then run some more.

This lesson teaches the mind that you can beat the physical feeling of exhaustion with will power. The mind is the engine, you can fine-tune this engine to create peak performance.

By positively pushing yourself, working through the pain, using strategies that overcome perceived limitations you step up your game to a new level. This is the level we see in people we admire. It often easy to believe that others have all the look, the truth is luck comes from determination.

Build Up The Body

Exercise is a key theme in every army.

The solider will create an increase in physical strength by following the exercise regime instilled by their commanding officers. There is also a positive side effect to this act.

When on exercise you create mindfulness by focusing on one thing. This maybe your breathing when lifting weights, the peak of a mountain you are climbing or the next obstacle on the assault course.

On long runs and forced marches, you learn to go inside yourself to that inner place where you find relaxation and calmness. Here you may even have those creative ideas and light-bulb moments as your inner critique is turned off.

Exercise releases stress and increases motivation, naturally.

Instant Reactions

You can train your brain to complete an act from learning to juggle to playing the piano, from taking apart and reassembling a rifle to marching in a troop

The army teaches it’s soldiers to respond without thinking. This instantaneous responce is life saving, learning to react to enemy fire,  intuitively knowing that an enemy is waiting in ambush or being able to defend yourself when attacked.

The more you learn a task, and soldiers spend hundreds of hours learning each task they have to complete, the faster you will be at that desired skill, until you can complete that action without having to think

This is how the army and how you can create unconscious competence. Being able to complete a skill without thinking is motivational , once learnt you can then master this task, taking your learning to a higher level.

What is also motivational, is that you learn that leaning a new skill is hard, is frustrating. But you learn that all task can be learnt with repetition and patients. When learning your next skill you will feel motivated rather then frustrated when you get it wrong, as you know that this in actual fact part of the learning process.
