3 Questions To Ask Yourself To Keep You Motivated
It is easy to get distracted
Distractions come from everywhere, from TV to a partner telling you about their day, from other tasks and goals to incoming e-mails.
When completing an important task and you find your mind wondering, ask yourself these 3 questions to keep you motivated and on point
What is the one thing you can do right now?
When your mind wonders and starts to think about all the other things you have to do; pick up the kids, shopping, other task, paying a bill, taking the dog for a walk, meetings…and all the other hundreds of things you have to do, you start to procrastinate
What you need to do is focus on the next task you need to complete to achieve your current goal.
By asking what can i do right now? you bring the focus away from all the other external task, and create a current task that relates to your current goal.
Focus creates momentum, momentum creates motivation
What is my Outcome?
We all set many goals, but when a goal isn’t important to you – it doesn’t fit into your bigger plan or it doesn’t meet one of your values you can easily lose interest
By focusing on how this task fits into your bigger plan and how by taking action you will achieve your goal you increase motivation. To add to this ask what will the outcome be? By visualizing the future outcome, the way you want your life to be, your motivation can double increasing your production.
How can you make this task more fun?
Some task are boring. To keep motivated think about fun ways to achieve your goal
This maybe an innovative solution or simply getting a group of people together ( a type of study group) You may be the type of person who is motivated by having a list of task to follow or by using a variety approach to achieving your goals.
For some background music, working in a park, completing task in a certain environment, working alone or with others, is the key thing that makes work fun (or funner)
To stay motivated you need to think about what motivates you (not others) and implement this into your day to day tasks
