This rarely works due to the younger generation being more focused on the hear and now, rather then the future.
If these techniques worked all pupils would be motivated all of the time. Instead teachers need teach pupils how they can individually motivate themselves., how to overcome periods of procrastination and to take action when required.
As momentum creates motivation, teachers can teach how to take action which creates momentum and motivation
