Manchester NLP Practice Group Milton Model
Last night was another amazing night at the Manchester NLP Practice Group session in association with The Coaching Support Service. Once again we were fully booked and attendees included new life coaches, people interested in self-development, hypnotherapist and experienced master practitioners.
What Happens During the NLP Practice Group Session?
Each month we will practice a different NLP technique and participants can suggest ideas and techniques that they would like to practice. I will also post the techniques we practiced on this blog – see below for last nights NLP Milton Model
The next Manchester NLP Practice Group Session will be on Tuesday 21st April 2015 to book your place please click this link: BOOK NOW
NLP Milton Model
Today we will look at 3 Milton Model Language Patterns
- Double Bind (creates an illusion of choice but offers no choice)
- Tag Questions (a question added to the end of statements designed to soften resistance and gains agreement)
- Complex Equivalence (gives meaning to something that people simple accept without questioning the statement)
The aim of tonight’s practice session is to get your client to relax/close their eyes.
Examples
Double Bind
“Do you want to relax now or in the next few minutes?”
“Can you relax all the way or part of all the way?”
“Which eye would you like to close first?”
Tag Question
“I can see that you want to relax, don’t you?”
“Its true that you can relax deeper, cant you?”
“Your eyes are feeling heavier, aren’t they?”
Complex Equivalence
“The way you have positioned yourself in that chair means that you want to relax”
“Your breathing has slowed down which means you are ready to let go”
“You are listening to my voice this means my words make sense to you in your own particular way”
Milton Model Practice Script
“How relaxed are you on a scale of 1-10?” (this is for practice only, just to check the increased relaxation in your partner)
“Take a deep breath….that’s right …..and notice which part of you starts to relax first? (double bind)and ask yourself, do you want to relax all the way down or part of all the way down? You are probably already starting to feel more relaxed, aren’t you? (tag question) which means you can relax deeper (complex equivalence) and deeper because the more you think about relaxing deeply the deeper you will relax, wont you?…”
Add your own “….sitting on that chair means _____________(complex equivalence), as you hear my words you will_________(tag question)and as you relax deeper you can__________ or _________ (double bind)
At the end of the practice session ask “How relaxed are you on a scale of 1-10?” (This is to compare the distance moved during the session)
