Overcome the Christmas Blues Step 1

Getting planning

Fill up your Christmas diary. There is always lots to do over xmas, contact your friends, colleagues and relatives find out what everyone is doing (parties, events, Christmas shows) and join in

A busy diary is a fun diary. Look at activities that you would love to do over the xmas period and send out invites. People like to be with others over Christmas so invite out the people who you like to be with

Depression and anxiety increase when you believe that everyone else is having fun, but you have to stay in alone. Instead get to busy that you can only think about all the fun you are having

Christmas is a time for giving

Spend some of the Christmas period helping the needy. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, buy presents for children in hospital or even go out your way to meet up with friends you haven’t seen for ages.

By helping others you help yourself. Everyone feels good by giving to other, this can be giving a homeless person some money, to a random act of kindness, from giving charity donations as presents or spending time with an elderly person

Find a charitable act that you would enjoy doing – and do it. Christmas is all about taking action!

Plan for the new year

I don’t mean plan how you will pay the bills, or if you have unfinished work to complete. Instead plan fun things that you will do in the new year

This might be friends you want to see more, maybe a holiday destination that you have always wanted to go to, or maybe you want a new hobbies or to learn a new skill

Make a list of all the different things you will do this year, put a date to them and write one thing you can do now to make this happen

Having  positive year ahead of you increase moral and boost happiness
