A new year, a new start?

Why do you wait for a new year to set a new goal? We want the timing to be right for a big change, but a big change doesn’t happen because the timing is right.

The new year creates a common set of goals for the worlds population; we want to be rich, find a new career and to shred the pounds, but why wait for weight loss?

Why Wait for Weight Loss?

Weight loss shouldn’t be a goal. Weight loss isn’t something that will change your life. Weight loss won’t be a happy habit.

The reason people, many people, fail to lose weight is because having a focus on weight loss is the wrong focus to have. Weight loss should be a result of your goal, not the goal itself.

A focus on shredding the weight can help you lose weight, but once the wait for the weight loss has passed and the pounds have gone, once the pants no longer fit, once your bulge has bounded away, you will feel elated, elevated, excited.

But hear lies the problem, once a goal is achieved, the focus becomes blurred, and before you release the pound have poured back on the belly.

Don’t wait for weight loss.

Instead, turn the focus from being heavy to a having a healthy lifestyle. Swap your sweets for fruity treats, eat fresh food instead of fried food, change your take-away to an apple a day.

You can even take it one step future; walk 10,000 steps a day, meditate the mind and hydrate body. When your focus is a healthy lifestyle instead of a weight loss goal, you will lose weight without losing momentum.

Don’t wait for weight loss, don’t grope for time-bound goals, don’t set new year resolutions that can bring your life to ruins.
